Anogyra is a small village about 10 K inland from Pissouri in the foothills of the Troodos mountains. Its population is some 450 people, of whom about 150 are British. Pissouri itself is a very well-known tourist destination made up of the main village which is some 1 K inland from Pissouri Jetty, the well-appointed beach resort. Pissouri is about half way between Limassol and Paphos on the south west coast of Cyprus.

Anogyra is about 500 metres above sea level, it has a village shop and two  superb tavernas. It is one of only 2 pastelli making villages on the island of Cyprus, and there is  a herb farm based around one of the tavernas. In the centre of town there is a Carob (chocolate substitute) museum and just outside town there is Oleastro, the official olive oil museum and restaurant. The nearest supermarket is in Pissouri some 10 minutes away and both Limassol and Paphos are about 30 minutes away. All access and internal roads are metalled and well maintained.

The weather in Anogyra is fairly predictable and consistent. The Spring and Autumn are very short so winter can be envisaged as between November and March and an 8 month Summer from April to October. January is the coldest month when temperatures can drop down to 50 degrees F whereas June, July and August are the hottest when temperatures can often go above 100 degrees F.

Hiraeth was built in 2006 according to plans drawn up by the owner and his wife. It is a 2 storey family dwelling built of stone and brick and strictly according to village specifications. The dwelling itself is 280 covered square metres on a 650 square metre plot and is privately situated at the end of a short road (soon to be tarmacadamed). The front of the house faces south offering an incredible and uninterrupted sea view stretching from Pissouri in the west to the Akrotiri peninsula in the east – some 30 kilometres.

From the road, gates lead to a 27 metre by 4 metre driveway which includes a covered carport 5 metres long. At the end of the driveway is a 3 by 4 metre outside utility / shed / storeroom which is completely electrically wired and houses the central heating boiler and provides ample working space for the handyman. At the rear of the property is a camouflaged alcove housing the LPG tank.  There is an electrically operated pergola cover 3m by 6m over the recreation area. All aspects of the outside have fitted electricity sockets. The garden is fully mature with perennial shrubs, roses and fruit trees including orange, lemon, lime and fitted with a 3 phase watering system. All pathways and driveway are crazy paved and at the front of the house is a covered 8 by 3 metre furnished patio from which twin double sliding doors lead to the lounge.

The downstairs living area is open plan with a 6.5 metre cathedral ceiling. The lounge area is 7.75 by 4.2 metres and runs into the dining area 4 by 3.5 metres. Alongside is a fully fitted luxury kitchen 3.5 by 3.5 metres. There is a small porch 2 by 2 metres with access via the front door. The whole downstairs floor is tiled and in the lounge is an extremely efficient 7 Kilowatt fan operated wood burning stove which easily keeps the whole house warm in the few cold winter months.

From the dining area an alcove leads to a downstairs toilet and washroom, and a passageway leads to the study, utility room and downstairs bedrooms and stairs to the gallery landing. The study (2.7 by 3.2 m) is fully fitted with cupboards, drawers and shelves and is extensively wired for all the electrical and communication facilities a study demands; full broadband internet facilities are in place. The plumbed utility room (1.7 by 1.5 m) is fully functional with fitted washing machine and tumble drier and storage cupboards. The master double bedroom 1 is 3.7 by 4 metres with attached dressing room and bathroom including shower unit. Bedroom 2 is 3.7 by 4 metres with fitted wardrobes and attached bathroom with bath and shower unit.

The stairs lead to a decorative railed gallery landing overlooking the lounge / dining area on 2 sides. The main part of the landing (4 x 4.2 m) is fully wired for TV, electrical outputs and telephone. The landing then leads to bedroom 3 which is 6.5 x 5 m and includes fitted wardrobes and a securely locked security room containing shelves and wall safe. Patio doors from bedroom 3 lead to a first floor railed patio facing south. Bedroom 4 is 4 x 4.5 metres with fitted wardrobes. Also upstairs is a boxroom / storage room, 3 x 2.5metres which has multi fitted shelves. Also off the landing is the upstairs fully fitted bathroom with shower. As the house is furnished at the present time it could comfortably sleep 10 adults!

The house is fully air conditioned (recently serviced) and has ceiling fans in all bedrooms and study. It is also centrally heated with radiators in all rooms. All windows and doors have fitted fly screens and security locks. Three phase electricity serves the house. All rooms have telephone points. The house has a fully functioning alarm system. All windows are fitted with roller blinds and pulley operated curtains. The kitchen is fitted with dishwasher, a microwave oven, two full size ovens, a 5 burner gas hob, numerous cupboards and drawers and an American style fridge freezer. A breakfast bar separates the kitchen from the dining area.
