Gareth and James with Gareth and Laura Worgan's little treasure, Tobi

A very busy week last week (1st week May 25). Isobel and I, accompanied by Rhian and Gareth, spent a week in Cyprus finalising the sale of our house there. We stayed the week in an Air B&B house in the village of Anogyra which was absolutely superb - fully fitted out with everything you might need, including a well stocked fridge, very comfortable beds, full WiFi facilities - and even its own domestic cat who really enjoyed our company!! If anyone wants details just give me a call. Whatever, we met up with the departing tenant, the new buyers, the lawyer and agreed on the final deal. In meantime, with the grateful assistance of villagers and a local charity, we cleared the house of left behind furniture so that the place was ready for new owners to move in. Finally, we received notice that the buyers had transferred money to our account although because of weekend and bank holidays delays were inevitable; however, by the folowing Tuesday the transfer of money was confirmed, the keys handed over and, at long last, our Cyprus sojourn was over. If the new owners enjoy the house as much as we did they will be very happy.

However, the week was not all business and we had a great time visiting Limassol, Lady's Mile, Akroriti, Melanda Beach, Kolossi, Pissouri and Paphos and much more including a round of Golf for Gareth! We met up with lots of old friends and neighbours and ate some superb meals - except for the mixed fish meal I had - I spent more time extracting the bones than I did eating! I've added a couple of pictures of our week at the end of the picture page.

Next stage is to go ahead with the new flat we have decided on here in Maidenhead. We have lots of plans so watch this space for further news.

I have added a temporary new page to the website showing what son Richard is up to down in Newport. Can I urge you to click here just to have a look at some of the superb talents he has and which have been hidden for far too long. If anyone is interested in taking advantage of the talents just give me a call vis the contact page.

Grandson James is just completing his second year at Portsmouth University in a few weeks. His degree course in Architecture allows him to take a year out for practical experience and he has been applying to companies for a position accordingly. Well, after much soul searching and applications he beat hundreds of applicants to get a year with Mitchells and Butler including a salary and a car! We are all as proud as punch for him.

As far as Gareth is concerned - he is still managing a local restaurant but is in the process of applying for something more professional and rewarding. Moves are a-foot for something exciting - more news on this when the time comes.

Now that the house in Cyprus has sold, Isobel and and I have been looking for a place of our own. We have found what we wanted so more news on that later. In the meantime, look out for an email or message detailing our new address. Also, after a lot of thinking, there will not be a landline and we will be switching to mobiles only - so no change in those numbers (email us if you don't have them and I will reply).

Pip in her better days with Gareth

Do you remenmber Pip? That's the little lady that Isobel, Rhian and I adopted some years ago as she was slowly going downhill. We think Pip did have some relatives up Lancashire way but, as we understand it, she fell out with them many years ago and has never been in contact since. Pip had given Power of Attourney to the husband of a local lady friend of hers (who has died). Unfortunately, that husband spent her money instead of managing it and after Guy's and my intervention the power of attorney was taken off him - but not before he has spent some £75,000 of her money. Police were involved but although he was considered guilty the charges were dropped 'because of his advancing age (85)'. Anyway, Pip finally ended up in a nursing home where she was looked after until she passed away at the end of november age 97!!! RIP Pip.
